After excelling at dance and modeling, she decided to give acting a try and began taking acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was cast in guest roles and commercials prior to getting the big break. The critics and the fans alike praised her skills as an actor. Her next step was to be a star on the screen, by starring in films such as DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary school before she transferred to West Vancouver Secondary. As she grew older, Mitchell had worked for several modeling companies across the globe.
