In America The early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the prodigy child category. However, for a child of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and a loving family, those were not innate traits. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented home on August 17, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was an contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and loved playing sports. The passion for sports was matched by the natural ability to perform. This was demonstrated by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. By age 14 she was admitted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater as well as operatic vocals.
